Börek Spiral with Lamb & Labneh
Last year when i first moved to The Netherlands, one of my first food experiences were Turkish (oddly enough), naturally I've made this dish inspired by that first experience.
Usually, the spiral börek is made in one big spiral, however i did small spirals just as a snack.
Ingredients:
20 sheets of filo pastry
250 gr. of minced meat
1 yellow onion (chopped)
1 cup of labneh
Salt & Pepper
Black & White sesame seed
1 egg ( for egg wash)
4 tablespoons of melted butter
Olive Oil for sautéing
Directions:
1. In a nonstick pan sauté the onions and meat, season with salt and pepper. Turn the heat off and add the labneh, mix well and let cool a bit.
2. Spread flat the filo sheet brush with butter and add another sheet, then add the meat and labneh mixture in a somewhat thin line, then roll the sheet of filo and make a spiral.
3. Brush with the egg wash and sprinkle the sesame seeds on top. Repeat until you have 10 spirals
4. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Tips:
1. Serve warm as a snack, or as a side for soup.
Enjoy!
