Hamburguesa con todo (Everything Burger)
In Caracas, there is a Calle El Hambre (Street of Hunger) in El Hatillo, with rows of food trucks, food carts that offer burgers, hot dogs, arepas and, all kinds of food that you can eat while standing; open 24 hours a day non stop 365 days a year. Have a told you how of a rebel I was in my teener years? Well, this recipe brings one of the rebellious memories, makes me smile still.
Once upon a time, there was a girl named Aida. Aida had a crush on the guy next door. One Friday night, this guy (who shall remain nameless); invited her and a group of other friends out to eat burgers at El Hatillo. Aida asked her parents for permission, the answer: a no-go! But Aida found this unfair and an evil decision, keeping her from all the fun, so she pretended she had the green light and so she went out with her friends.
The reason I still smile is that I ate that burger with a syncing feeling of fear for what I knew was wrong, my rebellion, and that crush. If; you ask me, worth being punished for months. There was a small piece of satisfaction that I carried with me from that night forward. Knowing our actions have consequences made me realize that as long I was willing to accept the consequences; my decisions would always be right (at least right, for me).
