Low Carb Bread Buns
I'm all about comfort eating, that being said, this includes finding healthier ways to indulge guilt-free. This is a recipe that provides the basis for that. This is a low-carb bread and gluten-free. It is delicious, it is a perfect substitute if you can't have gluten, or simple you are reducing the carb-intake (which I do, from time to time).
It yields 6 buns.
Ingredients:
1 cup of almond flour
3 egg whites
300 ml hot water
5 tablespoons psyllium husk
2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
Sesame seeds
Directions:
1. Mix all together with a wooden spoon, and when it becomes a homogeneous dough, wet your hands with a bit of water and shape 6 balls, put them on a baking tray and flatten them at least 1cm thick, they will grow and puff a lot, leave enough space so they don't stick together. Bake for 50-60 min on a 200 degrees.
Tips:
The psyllium husk is fiber and also gives the bread the crunch and elasticity. Each ball is around 13g of carbs and it is gluten free. Good News!!! You can also make burgers with these buns, (I said low-carbs, not low-calories), I made kohlrabi/rutabaga fries, instead of potatoes (see, I fixed it).
Enjoy!
